Cameron Keighron

Cameron is passionate about making research, health, and advocacy more inclusive and community-driven. Their work focuses on participatory research, ensuring people have a real say in the science and policies that impact them.

They’ve been deeply involved in youth research and advocacy, particularly in health and civic engagement areas. Through their work with the International Diabetes Federation of Europe, they amplify young voices in diabetes research and policy, pushing for better healthcare and support systems. They’ve also played a key role in the D1 Now project,poipi working directly with young adults, researchers and clinicians to improve diabetes care in Ireland.

Beyond health advocacy, Cameron is committed to civic engagement, LGBTQ+ rights, and climate justice. As Chairperson of AMACH! LGBT+ Galway, they’ve helped create vital community services in the West of Ireland. Their work is all about breaking down barriers and making sure people are heard in research, policy, and beyond.
