Panelist: Eric Mibuari, PhD

Dr. Eric Mibuari is a postdoctoral research fellow in Computer Science at Harvard University, where his work is positioned at the crucial intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) safety and market dynamics. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Harvard, with a dissertation on “Towards Positive Outcomes in the AI Economy: Mitigating Algorithmic Collusion and Enabling Fair Resource.”
His research is committed to advancing the field of AI safety, specifically in understanding and mitigating the potential adverse effects of AI algorithms in economic contexts. His research explores how AI can address global challenges ethically, focusing on fairness and positive societal impact – values resonant with youth development and university engagement.
With over 10 years at IBM Research Africa as a Research Scientist and Technical Team Lead, and prior roles at Microsoft and Adobe, Eric brings deep expertise in AI, data science, and technology. He has presented his work at international conferences such as NeurIPS 2022 in New Orleans, USA and ICLR 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda, connecting with global AI communities.
Eric is eager to share insights on Ethical AI with the For Youth, By Youth supporting their mission to inspire and empower university students and youth through innovative technology discussions.
Panelist: Akmaljon (Jon) Akhmedjonov
Akmaljon, or simply Jon, is a driven young professional with extensive experience in international development, consulting, and higher education. His diverse interests include peacebuilding, green start-ups, human rights, access to education, security, and sustainable development. Jon is currently assisting as an AI and Impact Intelligence Specialist for the For Youth, By Youth movement.
Jon is passionate about helping others and gets goosebumps when he solves problems that people face. His global perspective is evident, having lived, worked, and studied in nine countries and traveled to more than twenty.
Jon is constantly striving to become more resilient and create positive change in the world through his strong communication skills, passion for tangible social impact, and global mindset. His mission is to help as many people as possible fight mental poverty by empowering them to reach their full potential.
Panelist: Sreeja Kaimal

Sreeja Kaimal is an accomplished engineer and technical leader with a deep understanding of how AI systems – from transformer models to natural language interfaces – can be built responsibly to serve people. She spent nearly five years at Amazon’s Alexa AI, where she led programs focused on natural understanding, applying cutting-edge research to the way humans interact with voice assistants. Her career spans the tech and banking industries, where she has built and scaled high-performing engineering teams, designed data-driven products, and tackled complex ethical and technical challenges in AI. Sreeja brings a rare combination of deep technical insight and human-centered thinking – rooted in years of working across software engineering, product leadership, and research-driven innovation. At this webinar, Sreeja will draw from her hands-on experience to explore the ethical dimensions of AI and what it means to design systems that are not only intelligent but also trustworthy. Her session will speak to young people who want to build a future in tech that values both impact and integrity.
Panelist: Bobina Zulfa
Bobina is an interdisciplinary Data and Digital Rights researcher at Pollicy. In her work, she currently focuses on researching data governance as well as the development,adoption and deployment of Artificial Intelligence on the African continent and how that particularly affects African women. In this, she specifically tackles issues of ethics, human digital rights, justice, decoloniality, policy, intersectionality and other Afro-feminist data and digital ideals.
